How To Evaluate An Opportunity
Would you like to be able to test any thing you put into your mouth to see if it is good for you? The test is very easy and works 100% of the time.
If you are in a nutritional company, you do not have to take the word of the company. You will be able to determine for your self if what they say is true or not.
Near the end of the video, Michael proves "Thoughts Are Things". He uses a very mild negative statement, "Bad Boy" and a positive statement, "Good Boy". How often do we say negative things to ourselves that is far worse than that? We feed our subconscious mind with so much negative garbage, no wonder so many people fail at NWM/MLM.

To most people this whole Network Marketing thing does not
come naturally. We have plenty of life’s events and pre-
programming to overcome.
THE FIRST TIME AROUND. People reading this Lesson grew
to adults, possibly went on to college, got a job started a family
and worked 40+hr weeks all dictated by everything we were
programmed to know about supporting ourselves, our families
and being a productive citizen, an active part of society. Inside
we yearned for something else. Most felt the yearning but didn’t
know what to do except try to find a job that paid more (pre-
programming).
Then one day we’re approached by someone in Network
Marketing. We listened for a moment, “ah, I’ve been told about
these schemes and scams”. We hold up the silver cross put the
garlic around our necks and run…just like our prospects did
before we learned exactly word for word what to say and do…
THE SECOND TIME AROUND. But as time passed it occurred
there may be more to it than we thought, we had been given a
glimpse of the Network marketing promise and couldn’t let it go.
We eventually enrolled in a Network Marketing company.
We don’t know what to do so our up-line gave us a PLAN. We
knew this was the correct PLAN because our up-line told us
exactly what they were told. Make a list of family and friends, all
the business people and professions you know and go tell them
about this GREAT Product and business opportunity. They will
all see how this wonderful opportunity will allow them to retire
years earlier then they otherwise could.
OUR UP-LINE SAID, “JUST DON’T THROW UP ON THEM.”
WELL HECK, WE TRIED NOT TO BUT OUR UP-LINE HAD NO CURE.
So off we go, plan in hand. A little fearful but excited and
motivated we start…vomiting. Almost immediately people start
holding up the silver crosses, putting garlic around their necks
running and not answering the phone when we call. We become
discouraged, doubtful and very fearful. As time passes our
activity ceases and our up-line pushes. The big issue, no one
ever really told us step by step what do and say word for
word…they just said do-it and we did.
How does one create an organized plan out of that? We had the
umpteen years of pre-programming before Network Marketing
now we have the rejection and fear to overcome…what plan will
get us through that?
THE THIRD TIME AROUND. When you read the ebook
Success in 10 Steps the author told you, and you began to
discover, why your struggling and lack of Success in Network
Marketing was not your fault. For those of you in Network
Marketing but have not yet read the book, ask the person who

Let The System Do The Grunt Work
Remember when you first heard, "Sales is a numbers game." Somebody said that to you because you had called 25 people with absolutely no success. What they meant was, "Keep on swinging. Eventually you'll hit one." Unfortunately, they did not have your best interest in mind. They wanted to keep you around a few more weeks before you gave up and they had to train another unknowing suspect.
With this thinking, if you want to make one sale, you've got to make 100 calls. Two sales, 200 calls. The problem with that is if you want to make 10 sales, you've got to make 1000 calls. Who has time to make that many calls? Can you see how this approach can limit you?
I believe in working smarter, not harder. Instead of grunt work, which is what cold prospecting is, wouldn't you rather spend your time talking with qualified prospects that need you and want you to call them?
Why on earth would you willingly spend your time searching under rocks for those people, and then begging them for a few minutes on the phone?
Would you rather be able to follow up with a prospect who has already contacted you and get most of them to spend time with you on the phone?

In MLM, The Marketing Will Build Your Empire
Early in "Success In 10 Steps", you can read about "the monk in the white lab coat." I don't think it's just the people I've talked to recently. I can definitely remember when I used to think this way.
There are just a LOT of people who believe that far and away THE #1 reason to choose a network marketing company is the product. And even after talking with them a bit, it is a very tough idea to dislodge.
MLM companies must have a great product to compete in today's market. But it is effective marketing, not a product, that will either build an empire or not. Specifically, you should be searching for a group with an effective, results-producing marketing program in place. So it's important to give prospects as much evidence as you possibly can that product focus is not what will build them a great income from home.
To have any hope for building a successful MLM business, they have to get this concept. If all they want is a great product, that's fine. If they don't care about the money, no problem. They can do whatever the heck they want to do.
But most people - and certainly most of the people your prospect will be talking to about the business - are looking to make money at it. And if you ask even this product-focused prospect, you can pretty much be 100% sure they'll say, "Well, yeah - I want the money!"
And to do that, you've got to have those other 4 Pillars in place - not just the product. So page 14 is a very good place to point your prospect to, to make that point and get them headed in the right direction.

There are just a LOT of people who believe that far and away THE #1 reason to choose a network marketing company is the product. And even after talking with them a bit, it is a very tough idea to dislodge.
MLM companies must have a great product to compete in today's market. But it is effective marketing, not a product, that will either build an empire or not. Specifically, you should be searching for a group with an effective, results-producing marketing program in place. So it's important to give prospects as much evidence as you possibly can that product focus is not what will build them a great income from home.
To have any hope for building a successful MLM business, they have to get this concept. If all they want is a great product, that's fine. If they don't care about the money, no problem. They can do whatever the heck they want to do.
But most people - and certainly most of the people your prospect will be talking to about the business - are looking to make money at it. And if you ask even this product-focused prospect, you can pretty much be 100% sure they'll say, "Well, yeah - I want the money!"
And to do that, you've got to have those other 4 Pillars in place - not just the product. So page 14 is a very good place to point your prospect to, to make that point and get them headed in the right direction.

Voodoo MLM Economics
You'll find "Voodoo MLM Economics" in the first section of "Success In 10 Steps". This is one of my favorite sections.
A few weeks ago, I was talking on the phone with one of my prospects who had downloaded the ebook. Prospects fall into one of two groups:
Already in a business & trying to figure out how to make it profitable.
Looking for a business to make profitable.
This lady was in group #1. And since I was on the line with her, she decided to reverse-recru1t me. So she told me about her incredible company and their 98% retention rate.
Nobody ever left that company. Everybody stayed. Fascinating.
OK. You could give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she was new and was just repeating what she had been told by her sponsor. But she was also telling me how wonderfully successful she was, too, so she probably doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
We know that in MLM, like any other business, most people aren't going to make it. Most people are going to leave. Most people are going to quit before they are successful. Most people don't commit themselves. Most people don't value spending time training themselves. Most people won't put in the time necessary to actually work their business.
It all boils down to the "C" word: most people just won't make the commitment.
And so it enhances your position when you are talking with a prospect that you flat out tell them all this.
"Jack, what I know from my experience is, most of the people I talk to will not make any real commitment to this business. Most of them will quit. Most of them will find a reason not to do it."
And of course, I always add in there, "We've been using the STS ebook for almost 10 years now. And the reason we like this 'Success In 10 Steps' lead generation system so much is, we talk to so many people who have been beat up in this business. And yet, so many of them are people who just will NEVER quit. They're determined to keep going forever. They are determined to make it work."
I can't tell you how many times I say that to one of my ebook download prospects and they say, "Yeah. That's me." It's like that company's retention rate - it's over 90%.
Well - it's probably 80%, anyway. They say, "Yeah, that's me. I'll never quit. I'll never stop doing this. I'll never give up. I'm going to get it right. I'm going to figure it out or die trying." That is the type of person who read this ebook.
And you increase your own credibility and their trust in you when you tell them that you know most people will quit. At the same time, you give them personally a way out of that group, because most people who come in through the STS ebook are warriors. They are just never going to quit.
So it's very worthwhile for you to point out this section of the ebook to your prospects and let them know that most people quit. If this was an easy business, everybody would do it.

Create your own MLM leads
The most frequent question I get about using the "Success In 10 Steps" ebook to generate leads:
"What methods do you recommend to people to advertise their ebook page?"
My friends Don Standard & Penny Dude do a 1-hour training on some unique way to advertise your ebook each week. And we've got over a year's worth of these calls archived online. These trainings are priceless and - they're free. So when I'm talking with someone, I mention these trainings. My job is just to point. Pretty uncomplicated.
You have the opportunity to listen to people who have been generating leads using the STS ebook describe exactly which online (or sometimes offline) resources they use and how they use them most effectively. You can find a ton of really good & useful information in those calls.
(And I'll come clean here - these resources can be used for any type of advertising, not just the Success In 10 Steps ebook.)
Again, this is something ANYBODY can do. You can give people enormously valuable information without knowing anything yourself. All you need to do is point to this website & tell them to go through the archives and listen to our Thursday afternoon recorded calls.
I tell them to listen to 4 or 5 or 10 calls and to choose ONE thing that sounds good to them and that they feel comfortable doing. Well - two at the most. Better to concentrate on one to start, but you might test one against another, if you find two you really like.
And I tell them to talk with me after they've chosen one of these resources, and we'll plan exactly how to use it. And if you tell your prospect that, but you don't know the resources yourself, you can certainly put them on the line with me when they're ready to start.
It's critical that you NOT position yourself as the expert who knows everything. Our audio archives are a wonderful resource, and you just point them to that resource. And your new rep realizes that as they bring people into the business, they can also point people to the same resource. They don't need to know anything.
What could be simpler? Truly, anyone can do that. It makes your business very duplicatable.

Network Marketing is like farming. You have to seed before you harvest. It takes time for that seed to grow. But with cultivation, care, rain, and sunshine there will be a harvest.

Will Michael Dlouhy's System Work a Year From Now?
Everything changes. Who knows if the "Success In 10 Steps" prospect recruiting system will work a year from now?
But what I do know is - it worked in 2005, when we first offered it.

Think & Grow Rich Chapter 5 Specialized Knowledge

It’s always helpful to have a map when we are traveling to an unfamiliar destination. Our family had a large atlas that traveled with us from state to state; favorite highways are still highlighted in yellow. Now we rely more on our GPS, but there are times when I prefer a state map or atlas to see the big picture.
It takes some special skills to read a map. You have to first know where you are, and secondly, where you are going.
This week we are studying Specialized Knowledge. We often think of this as the skills that will enable us to become successful. That is certainly true, but what if you don’t really know where you are?
Here’s an illustration...
Patricia is in her early forties. Her job is low paying and unpredictable so she is attending college to get a better job with better income. With her work schedule and family responsibilities, she attends school on a part-time basis. She’s hoping to get her bachelor's degree within the next 4-5 years and then begin a brand new career. Her time is spent juggling homework, raising kids, going to soccer games, working her job, doing laundry and fixing dinner.
Patricia has bought into the belief that to be successful you must have a college degree and work for a company that provides benefits. What she isn’t considering is that when she eventually graduates, she will be competing with bright 20-and-30-year olds for the limited job openings. She will have to pay back the student loans that made it possible for her to attend college. If she does land a job, she will be on the lowest rung of the seniority ladder. Guess who will be the first one to get a pink slip if there is downsizing?
Patricia’s lack of Specialized Knowledge as to her current situation and where her current path will take her, will probably result in some unexpected detours. Some may call it Denial. I call it Fog.
It’s easy to be in a Fog. You allow yourself to get pulled into this hazy, I’ll-think-about-it-tomorrow zone to avoid painful reality.
While it’s commendable to be a life learner, it’s easy to get sidetracked when you are in a college environment that’s all about homework and tests. Paying lots of tuition for those college classes will come with a price tag that’s greater than the loan itself. But you do it because you are in a fog.
Several years ago I was working as a pre-school consultant. It was a position giving me a national voice to advocate for young children. When I was hired, I was told that I really needed to complete my master’s degree to be on a similar educational level with the other regional consultants. I accepted that without question and entered the FOG. When the opportunity came for me to take some grad classes online, I paid thousands of dollars and spent lots of time reading and writing papers.
After those four classes, I did some math calculations and discovered it would take at least $10,000 for me to complete my master’s degree. However, when I found out that there would be NO salary increase, I stopped dead in my tracks. Getting some Specialized Knowledge as to where I was currently, and what I would need to even remain there, was a reality check.
The fog had lifted and I had clarity as to what I needed to do. Staying there was not going to get me to my destination.
Many of us have Fog somewhere in our life.
Perhaps it’s in our finances. It’s easy to avoid knowing the amount we pay on credit card interest. Fog.
Perhaps it’s in our marriage or other relationships. We think everything is going on fine until one day things get rocky. Clues were there all the time but we did not see them because we were in a fog.
Maybe our Fog is our health. We eat whatever we want without thinking of long term consequences. We decide to go to the gym “tomorrow.” Fog.
Specialized Knowledge lifts the Fog. The map becomes easier to read. You become confident that you are on the right path to your destination instead of roaming around in the wilderness for 40 years.
Taking the time and energy to find out where you are and where you are going may take effort and it may be painful, but it’s worth it.
And it just might save your life.

Monks, Mold, & MLM secrets

10 Steps to Succeed at Creating An Income From Home
I saw a comment from a successful internet marketer this week that I
think is very important to consistently remind yourself of almost
everybody we talk to about network marketing is an employee. They come
from an employee mindset. Very few are actually business owners.
The employee mindset is: "OK. I really want to be successful on my
own. I don't want to have a boss. I want to make more money. What do I
do?"
The employee mindset is NOT: "OK. I'm going to work this out for myself and come up with my own business plan."
And the point this guy was making is, the most important word when you are talking to a prospect is "system."
Let me repeat that. Heck, let me SCREAM that. THE MOST IMPORTANT
WORD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO A PROSPECT IS: SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM
SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM!
You've got to give them a step-by-step system. They have to see a
system that can work for them. You have to show them how it has worked
for others, and you have to show them, step-by-step, exactly what they
will do with it.
But it's more than just that. Your prospect not only has the
opportunity to use a system that is tested and proven to work, but they
also have the opportunity to talk to their prospects about that tested,
proven system - which every prospect needs and wants. It's really
important. That is exactly what this guy is talking about.
You need to hammer prospects about the system. I mean, REALLY
hammer them on this. Most prospects think, "Oh, this company has a great
product. That's what I need." Or, "Oh, I'm personally sponsored by the
heavy hitter. That's what I need." Or, "It's been proven that this
compensation plan pays out 80%, and over 90% of the people who use it
are successful." NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
Most prospects need to use the Success In 10 Steps ebook to have
success, but some won't. Everybody knows that a new person needs a
tested, proven system to start with. If you can find a better, tested
proven system, fine. We've used this one for 4 years, and it constantly
produces the targeted leads we want.
That's what those with the "employee mindset" need more than
anything - good prospects to talk to. Just getting a few really targeted
prospects a week can change their lives.
System? Yes. Use it. And talk to your prospects about it. Believe me, they know they need it.
