Chapter 1 - Thoughts are Things
For years I had looked for answers on how to
really build a Network Marketing business. Then
one Saturday evening I came across an article which
I found very interesting so I clicked on the accompanying
link and requested the e-book “Success in 10 Steps”.
When I first read “Success in 10 Steps” I thought “This man
sounds like he knows what he is talking about.”
I thought “This sounds like the truth.”
I thought “My husband needs to read this.”
I thought “We need to talk to this man.”
I thought “This is the help we have been looking for.”
I thought “We need to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Hill tells us “Thoughts are things”.
My thoughts those many years ago brought to me to
the riches of personal development, a growing Network
Marketing business and a new family team of like minded
individuals who help and support each other as we build
our futures together.
One saying summarizes this chapter on Thoughts are things and it is:
"If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t."
I think I can. I know I can. I am.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill Chapter 1 - Thoughts Are Things
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
THE MAN WHO "THOUGHT" HIS WAY INTO PARTNERSHIP WITH THOMAS A. EDISON
Let's compare Edwin C. Barnes situation with our current situation here in MFF.
Barnes had a desire to work with Edison.
When a person downloads our ebook, they have a desire to learn more. At first, they have no idea how this could happen. We share Steps 1, 2 and 3 with those who have a strong desire to learn more.
Barnes had no money, but his desire was so great, this did not stop him. He presented himself to Edison, looking like a tramp. Edison saw something in Barnes facial expressions that told him Barnes desire was very strong.
It was what Barnes thought, not his appearance, that caused Edison to hire him into his lab. This was not the relationship Barnes wanted, but he knew he would eventually be in business with Edison, even if it took the rest of his life. Remember Thoughts are Things. Just like Sharon Cobb knew there was somebody out there that could help her achieve her desire.
For months Barnes worked in an unimportant job. During this time his desire became stronger and stronger, i.e his thoughts became stronger and stronger.
Barnes eventually proved a definite purpose will lead us to where we want to be.
Back to our situation here in MFF.
If we have a strong desire, we will follow all the instructions in Chapter 2 of the ebook and create our "Why" or our desire. As a person begins learning these 13 steps in T&GR, their "Why", or desire, grows stronger and stronger.
As was the case with Barnes, the method for achieving that desire may change. We must recognize that opportunity when it presents itself, just as Barnes did.
Hill found that all successful men had one thing in common, a master mind group. Michael and Linda have created that here in all our training. Each one of us has the same opportunities Hill found in those he interviewed.
I thank Michael and Linda for creating such a powerful way we can implement these same 13 steps here in MFF.
I also thank each member of our master mind groups. Without them we could not achieve our desires.

Chapter 10 - POWER OF THE MASTER MIND - THE DRIVING FORCE
Many of us here have joined a Network Marketing company only to find out we were alone in building our businesses. We may have been told "I will be there for you and help you" by our new upline, only to find out that they really could not help us as they didn't seem to know any more than we did and maybe were not willing to put in the time to teach us.
Others may have found that once they were sponsored they could not even connect with their sponsor and the sponsor never returned their calls; OR, some signed up and never even knew or ever talked with their sponsor.
So how many struggled along and struggled along until they decided this just was not going to work and quit the industry and gave up on their dreams.
So very sad!
Building our business by ourselves is not encouraging, it is not fun, it is a very difficult road to travel on and the chances of making it work is next to none.
Thankfully, some of us began looking for help. We understood the concept and therefore, knew there had to be someone, somewhere, who knew how to make this business work.
We had faith and our faith was a driving force for us to find the help which we knew we needed. Our search brought us to the e-book "Success in 10 Steps", the Mentoring for Free System and the group of like minded people who were going where we wanted to go and had a System, a Mastermind to help us stay on track and teach us what we needed to do to make our business a success. We were not alone anymore.
We had people we could talk to, we had sponsors who did not disappear as soon as we signed up, we had mentors and coaches who were willing and take the time to help us learn the things they were doing to make Network Marketing work for us regardless of what company anyone was as part of.
We are a team of people who get together on weekly calls to share information, ideas and strategies so we can all grow together and this continues on and on, week after week, month after month, year after year.
The power is here, the training is here, the help is here, but it is only a driving force if we use it. It is like having a car sitting in our driveway. That car may have all the power it needs to move, but if we never get into the car and never turn the key, that power is useless and that car will just sit in the driveway and go nowhere.
We have a powerful master mind group here at Mentoring for Free and all we have to do is get in the car, turn the key and begin driving. This mastermind group will encourage us to do more, become more and help us every step of the way, but it only works if we are coachable and are here listening, participating and sticking with it.
The power of our master mind group comes from the unity, the caring, the sharing and the willingness of all to help each other become and attain the success we are working towards. Stay with it, stick with it and be here year after year.

Michael believes you need to understand what works and doesn't work BEFORE you invest any money. Michael's good friend Dave Cones has a lot to say about this.
Dave's experience is that most people in this business are unattractive. Why? Because they say, "Join me! Join me! Join me!" Look at all the magazine ads, the Internet, your email, the postcards in your mailbox. They're all the same. Nothing differentiates them.
